JACK DUERN CHANCE TO SHINE ON BIG STAGE

Jack Duern - two big rides at Lingfield

Jack Duern – two big rides at Lingfield

JACK DUERN, stable apprentice with Dean Ivory, has two big rides for the stable in tomorrow’s All-Weather Championships at Lingfield, aboard Eljaddaaf and Lucymai.

In the country’s richest all-weather fixture of the year, Harper Lodge Farm sends two horses to the Surrey track and both have been in good form this year ahead of their big races tomorrow.

Eljaddaaf starts the ball rolling in the apprentice handicap at 1.30pm over 7f.  Fourteen go to post in the race for four-year-olds and upwards, rated 0-100 and no horse lines up in better form than the Ivory runner who has been second twice and winner twice in his last four starts.

He is drawn nine which is not ideal but last time out over course and distance, he was drawn widest of all, 14 of 14 and that did not stop him winning as he came late under a great ride from Robert Winston to win on the line.  Jack Duern will have to be at his very best to get Eljaddaaf home in this very competitive handicap but at 6/1, the 96-rated Shamardal gelding has each-way claims.

Lucymai and Jack have struck up a good understanding this winter with three wins from the filly’s last four starts under his steering.  This five-times winning daughter of Multiplex is one of 13 runners in the 7f Filles’ and Mares’ Conditions contest (2.30pm) and she is drawn nicely in stall three.

Forgive and forget her last effort when fifth from a wide draw.  Lucymai has never run at Lingfield but all her five wins have come on the all-weather, four of them over tomorrow’s trip, so she goes there with a sporting chance at 11/1.

Jack Duern was fifth on Kadrizzi in the apprentice handicap at last year’s meeting.  Hopefully, he can improve on that tomorrow.
