HISTORICALLY, Dean Ivory is not noted for sending out a lot of two-year-old winners, never mind first time out but this week, he struck twice with 50/1 and 28/1 juvenile debutantes, Lucymai and Twin Sails.
The first success came at Kempton on Wednesday over 6f in an EBF maiden over 6f with the daughter of Multiplex winning by a neck and a short head for jockey Martin Harley from Taqwaa and Shadow Game, both owned by members of the Maktoum family. The former cost 140,000 guineas while the latter was a Darley bred Shamardal colt.
The following day, Dean struck again first time out in a Newbury maiden with a Sir Percy colt who cost just 25,000 guineas. He won under Robert Winston from John Splendid and House Of Commons who cost 70,000 and 150,000 guineas respectively.
The yard is in great form at present with Links Drive Lady and Tropics other winners this month. The yard has recorded 13 wins so far this year at a strike rate of 13%.
