Dean Ivory – four runners today
STAKE ACCLAIM seeks back-to-back wins today for Dean Ivory, when lining up in the 3.25 at Goodwood, a nine-runner 5f handicap. He won nicely at Windsor twelve days ago on soft ground and he went up four pounds but could defy the rise as he seems a progressive sprinter on turf. Today’s good to soft will suit, apprentice Jack Duern take a useful three pounds off his back and the 5/2 shot should run well.
Lancelot Du Lac – runs in the Palace House Stakes
Two of Dean’s big guns are out today with Sirius Prospect running in a £50k 7f handicap at Goodwood (2.50) and Lancelot Du Lac competing in the £60k Palace House Stakes, a Group 3 over 5f (2.30 Newmarket). The former is slipping down the weights and again, Jack Duern rides, taking off three pounds. The 7f trip will suit Sirius but he has not been firing of late and is a 33/1 outsider today. If he was to bounce back to form, he could go well off a mark of 98. Lancelot Du Lac is yet to win in Group or Listed company but he has been holding his form well on the all-weather and at six years of age, the Shamardal gelding could still have improvement in him. He looks interesting each-way at 16/1 with Robert Winston on board. Dean’s other runner today is San Quentin in the opener at Goodwood, a 1m6f handicap due off at 1.45. He was a prolific winner on the all-weather over the winter but is not so effective on turf. Today he is a 25/1 shot and will probably have more suitable opportunities. Darryll Holland takes the ride.
