THE NEW TURF season began last Saturday at Doncaster with the Lincoln meeting and today, Harper Lodge Farm has its first runner with Hot Chesnut running in the lucky last at Leicester, a 7f handicap, due off at 4.25pm and hopefully she’ll run well.
The 4yo daughter of Camacho dead-heated last October with Rogue Bear and that was third in last week’s Lincoln. She has been working well and has been supported in the market from 14/1 to around 17/2. David Probert rides and this lightly-raced Michael Yarrow-owned homebred looks to be well handicapped off 73 and could be one of the yard’s leading lights this year.
The yard has been very quiet on the winners front for a long while (45 runs and 146 days since a win) but hopefully the corner will be turned soon and Hot Chesnut has an excellent each-way chance today.
