GUNNING FOR GLORY SHARE RAISES £4,500 AT MARIE CURIE LUNCH

Guest speaker Rory Bremner

SOLARIO RACING donated a 1/12th share in Gunning For Glory for Marie Curie Cancer Care’s Autumn Lunch yesterday and it raised £4,500.  The successful bidder was Ms Jackie Ingham, who a year ago was the successful bidder in a silent auction at the same lunch for a champagne tour of Bowstridge Farm combined with Solario racecourse hospitality.

We are delighted the share realised a good price for our 2012/13 Charity of the Year and so pleased it went to Jackie who has been to the stables on more than one occasion and was keen to get involved.

The lunch, which was attended by Martin and Sarah Bosley and yours truly is a major fundraiser for the charity and over the course of four hours, some £83,000 was raised.

Guest speaker was Rory Bremner and I lost count of how many political and broadcasting figures he lampooned in his inimitable, erudite, satirical style.  His script was as ever up-to-the minute and included swipes at Mitt Romney and Philip Schofield while the act included superb impressions of “favourite” political figures from across both sides of the pond.

Gunning For Glory is due to make his racecourse debut over the winter.  There are just two shares available, so if you would like to get involved, why not come and see him work on the gallops?  Simply call the Racing Office on 01442 877 597 to arrange a day which suits.
