Joey Haynes – rides Flaming Spear at Goodwood
FLAMING SPEAR makes his seasonal reappearance at Glorious Goodwood today in the Group 2 Lennox Stakes at 3pm and the ground is now Good following rain at the Sussex track earlier today.
The yard’s top-rated horse (109) has been waiting to run for a while but the firm ground has meant he has had to bide his time. Today will be no easy task at the weights with the likes of Hey Gaman and Zaaki in opposition but the 7yo son of Lope De Vega is an improving type and he has an each-way chance at 14/1 under Joey Haynes who has the opportunity to ride a good horse on a big stage.
A previous course and distance winner, Flaming Spear does have an absence of 251 days but providing he behaves in the stalls, he is no forlorn hope.
