GREAT DAY AT LINGFIELD WINTER MILLION FESTIVAL!

THE WEATHER unfortunately knocked out the two day’s jumping at the Lingfield Winter Million Festival but yesterday’s flat meeting went ahead with some £240,000 on offer and Solario Racing and Amy Murphy owners enjoyed a fabulous day.

This was the second year of the Winter Million and although I enjoyed going last year when attending on the third day as a general racegoer, it was even more enjoyable to go with two Solario Racing horses, who were chasing the decent prize money on offer.

Sharp Distinction ran in the opener, a competitive two mile handicap and after trying to make all, he faded and was sixth, just outside the prize money!  Dancinginthewoods, like “Sharpie” had never raced at Lingfield but he’d been a winner on his all-weather debut at Kempton and and had been 2nd and 3rd in two outings at Southwell.

Despite running quite freely early on, he still finished 3rd and picked up over £2k to the delight of his owners.  “Woody” barely knows how to run a bad race.

Lingfield Park really looked after the Owners, some 15 in total across the two syndicates.  All enjoyed a very tasty lunch in a really decent sized Owners and Trainers bar where there was plenty of room for all Owners to enjoy a leisurely afternoon.  I was keen to sample the recently refurbished Syndicates Lounge and joined Amy’s Racing To Profit owners in there after Golden Mayflower was just touched off in the lucky last, when coming from off the pace to be denied a fast diminishing head!

The lounge again was spacious, very comfortable with a good sized bar and a Tote facility.  It’s the sort of area the Racehorse Syndicates Association have been asking for from racecourses and will definitely help ease the pressure from Owners and Trainers facilities on busy racedays.

Amy’s other runner Tarbaan was fourth, so it was a profitable day at the office for Southgate Stables.  Importantly, Lingfield Park looked after the Owners throughout the afternoon, so a big thank you to Isabelle Mangan and all the team.

Solario Racing looks forward to going back to Lingfield Park soon!
