Dean Ivory – 20% strike rate in May
FIRMDECISIONS defied an eleven pound rise for his win at Newmarket thirteen days ago to go in again at Headquarters this afternoon for trainer Dean Ivory.
The five-year-old son of Captain Rio is in terrific form and just as he did nearly two weeks ago, he made all under Pat Cosgrave over the 7f trip, only this time the winning margin was 1/2 length and not seven lengths! However, the handicapper will probably take a dim view and put him up a few pounds again. He was running off 91 today and is sure to edge towards 100 when he is reassessed next week.
Pat Cosgrave, who also is in terrific form, having ridden twelve winners in the last fortnight, said of the winner, “He could drop back to six if connections want to go to Royal Ascot for the Wokingham, he has the speed.”
Harper Lodge Farm is really stepping up the gears with today’s winner being the yard’s fourth this month at a strike rate of 20%.
