DEAN IVORY has assembled his best ever string with 10 horses, just under half of those with handicap marks, rated 80 or higher.
Top of the tree is 7yo Tropics, winner of seven races and £340k in prize money, although his best achievement was second in last year’s Group 1 Darley July Cup. He is rated 115.
Another 7yo, Sirius Prospect is rated 106 and he’s won over £1/4 million in prize money and ten races including two Listed. He has an enviable 22% wins to runs strike rate.
Lancelot Du Lac is the third horse in the yard rated over 100. He last ran in Meydan rated 109 and the 5yo Shamardal gelding has won five times and over £120k for connections.
The big recent improver in the yard has been 5yo Varsovian, who started winning last September off 55 and after five more wins since, has gone up two stone to 87. His strike rate is an incredible 43%!
Other older horses in the 80s include Links Drive Lady (85) and Tagula Night (84), who have won fifteen races between them.
Dean has some lovely three-year-olds including Rosie’s Premiere and Stake Acclaim, who are rated 90 and 82 respectively and who both won at two.
Solario Racing has a 3yo in training with Dean, King’s Concerto and he’s one to bear in mind for this season!
He was weak and immature as a 2yo but he has had three qualifying runs for a handicap. Awarded a mark of 63, his recent homework would indicate he has the scope to be a lot better than that!
