DEAN IVORY has recorded his best ever season for the fourth year running when Librisa Breeze won the valuable totescoop6 Challenge Cup at Ascot yesterday in scintillating style.
The first prize of £112,000 meant the Harper Lodge handler moved to £580,000 in total prize money for 2016, surpassing last year’s record total haul of £502,000 with three months of the year still to go.
The 4yo son of Mount Nelson, owned by Brighton Football Club Chairman, Tony Bloom, showed a devastating turn of foot, although a furlong from home with a wall of horses in front of him and seemingly nowhere to go, it looked an impossible task for the 11/2 favourite. However, Robert Winston remained ice cool and the when the gaps opened, the grey took off and in the end won by half a length going away.
Librisa Breeze loves Ascot having been an unlucky second in the Royal Hunt Cup in June before winning the Tote International in July. He’s earned over £250,000 this year but there may be more to come as he holds entries in the Group One Champions Sprint (6f) and the Balmoral Handicap over a mile. Both races are part of the prestigious Champions’ Day fixture at Ascot on October 15th.
Dean started Saturday without a win in eight weeks and 52 races and was lying third in the “Cold Trainers” list. But just as Robert Winston kept his nerve during the race, so Dean kept his in recent weeks and he is sure to be firing home more winners before the year is out.
Solario Racing is delighted to be associated with Dean Ivory and will be looking to be put more syndicate horses in training with him at Harper Lodge Farm in the near future.
