DEAN sets a poser by running both Tropics and Eirene in the same race at Chelmsford this evening, a six-runner Conditions event over six furlongs, due off at 7pm.
They are the two in the field with recent runs so will have a fitness advantage of their rivals but they are worse off at the weights compared with the likes of Dream of Dreams and Hey Jonesy.
The two stable runners are drawn next to each other (Eirene in two and Tropics in three) and both have course form. James Doyle is an interesting jockey booking for the filly while Adam Kirby is aboard the veteran chestnut sprinter, so there are not too many clues there.
They are also similar in price in the betting with Eirene slightly shorter at 15/2 compared with 9/1 for Tropics. They both have squeaks but if Dream Of Dreams is fit enough to do himself justice after 187 days off, the Stoute runner, rated 109 and with Ryan Moore aboard will be difficult to beat.
The yard also runs Vena D’Amore, a 66/1 chance in the 0-65 handicap over 6f at 7.30pm. Joey Haynes takes the ride.
