CHILTERN SECRET has a new sibling, a half-sister by Aqlaam, foaled on March 8th.
According to her breeder, Zara Campbell-Harris, who not only owns the dam Regal Curtsy but also a twelfth share in Chiltern Secret, “she is the most beautiful foal, good average size, strong, compact and very friendly.”
There were a stressful three days after foaling when the dam, Regal Curtsy went down with colic and it was touch and go at the stud as to whether she would survive. Fortunately, she pulled through and “both Mother and child are doing well.”
Apparently, the vets who were keeping a close eye on Regal Curtsy said they had seven cases in 36 hours of mares having just foaled having had the same problem. They believe it is down to the sudden drop in temperature last week.
Zara has said she is likely to keep the foal and race it herself rather than put it her through the sales ring. Interestingly, Aqlaam, who was a Group One winning miler, is a first season sire. Let us hope he is as successful as Sakhee’s Secret who was leading first season sire in 2012.
Solario Racing is quietly confident, Chiltern’s Secret can add to her sire’s record this year. The filly is very well and is being prepared to make her seasonal reappearance during the spring.
