CHARM LOOKS PICK OF CHELMSFORD QUARTET

Robert Winston - rides Classic Charm at Chelmsford

Robert Winston – rides Classic Charm at Chelmsford

DEAN saddles four today at Chelmsford and Classic Charm in the 0-65 mile handicap looks to be the pick.

The lightly-raced 4yo is still a maiden but has only had nine races and the Rip Van Winkle filly has been placed in her last two course and distance starts.  Tight in the market at 4/1, she has sound each-way claims under Robert Winston.

Robert is also aboard Tropics in the 5.55, a 0-105 handicap over 5f.  While not in great form in recent outings, he is a double course and distance winner and is on a winning mark.  He’s not getting any younger but the 11yo still retains ability and there would be worse 15/2 chances.

Jack Duern rides the other two runners, Badenscoth (5.20pm) and Red Cossack (7.55pm).  The former has an absence of 252 days to overcome in the mile handicap and the 16/1 chance will almost certainly benefit from the run.

Red Cossack is creeping down the weights and has the hood back on but he is drawn widest of the 12 runners and is going left-handed which is not ideal.  If he can overcome those two obstacles, he’d have an each-way chance at 11/1 in the 1m2f handicap.
