CASPIAN PRINCE BIDS TO REPEAT WIN IN “DASH”

Caspian Prince -bids for his second Epsom “Dash”

CASPIAN PRINCE won the Epsom “Dash” two years ago for trainer Tony Carroll and tomorrow, the 7yo son of Dylan Thomas bids to win the race (3.45pm) for the second time for Dean Ivory.

He is seven pounds higher and it is a highly competitive sprint but the 11-times winner, who has earned over £320,000 in prize money, is capable of winning on the big stage and he will not mind the drying Good to Soft ground.  Robert Winston rides and at 12/1, he is a sporting each-way bet.  (Skybet offer 1/4 the odds five places).

Dean also runs two in the same race at Lingfield in the 6.45, a 0-55 handicap over 1m 3 1/2 furlongs.  Catharina, ridden by Renato Souza is a 25/1 shot and seems to have her limitations.  Robert Winston is aboard Spinning Rose has not show much to date but has been well supported and at 11/2, may reward each-way backers.  It is probably not a race in which to get too heavily involved.

The Derby looks wide open and the race that Aidan O’Brien runs five probably suggests he does not have a superstar along the likes of Minding, very impressive winner of the Oaks.  John Gosden’s Wings Of Desire, an impressive winner of the Dante on only his third start should run well but so could many others.  It’s a fascinating but very competitive Classic.
