DEAN sends out four horses on the all-weather today, three in the afternoon at Chelmsford, all ridden by the in-form Robert Winston and one in the evening at Kempton, ridden by Jack Duern.
The day starts with Gregorian Girl making her debut in a 7f maiden fillies’ contest at 2.20pm. There are plenty of winners in her pedigree but lack of experience is likely to count against her and the 33/1 shot should improve for the experience. It’s hard to look past I’ll Have Another and Ghost Queen, who have run before.
Eljaddaaf steps up to a mile for the first time in a 0-105 handicap at 3.50pm and he looks massively overpriced at 25/1. The extra distance could suit this hold-up performer and he may be worth an each-way shout in a very competitive affair.
Tropics is a 9/1 shot in the 0-105 handicap over 5f at 4.20pm and this course and distance winner will be more at home in this grade than the Listed contest last time out at Windsor when he faced a very stiff task at the weights. He has each-way credentials with top-weight Udontdodou and last time out winner, Bosham two of the main dangers.
Finally, Nezar bids for back to back victories when lining up in the 14-runner 7f handicap at Kempton in the 8.40 but has to defy an 81-day absence. He doesn’t have a record of winning when fresh but has run well and 16/1 looks a more than fair each-way price, although the five pound higher mark for his last win may just find him out.
