BRUYERE is Harper Lodge Farm’s only runner today when lining up for the third race at Nottingham (1pm), a one mile and half a furlong handicap and although she’ll cope with the soft conditions, she does have a 314 day absence to overcome.
The well-bred daughter of Exceed And Excel was second behind Solario Racing’s Classic Charm at Nottingham last August over 1m2f in soft going before winning over the same trip at Yarmouth in heavy ground. Next time out at Chelmsford on the all-weather, she was slowly away and was hampered, so the run can best be forgiven.
Only two pounds higher than for her Yarmouth success, she’s not badly handicapped but will almost certainly benefit from the run but the horses are running better now, so hopefully she’ll be competitive under George Downing. Bruyere is at 16/1 shot in a very open race.
