LIBRISA BREEZE may be best known for his Champions’ Sprint win at Ascot over 6f in 2017 but he is probably not really a true sprinter and tonight he goes back up in trip to a mile and reverts back to the all-weather when lining up for a Listed race over a mile at Kempton (6.10pm).
The 7yo son of Mount Nelson was a winner at Kempton over a mile in his early days back in 2015 and indeed in three all-weather starts he has won twice and been second once. The heavy ground didn’t suit at Ascot in the Champions’ Sprint last time out and there is no reason why the top-rated horse in tonight’s 12-runner contest should not acquit himself well under Joey Haynes. He looks massively over-priced at 16/1 and looks very interesting each-way.
Stablemate Flaming Spear is an opponent but is a big drifter at 25/1. However, he’s won three out of four on the all-weather including this race last year. Again, he looks over-priced. Ben Curtis takes the ride.
An hour later, Sir Prize drops back in trip to a mile and a half in a handicap at 7.10pm and the drop back in distance from two miles should suit. Joey Haynes takes the ride on the 11/2 shot and the pair have solid each-way claims in a race in which Exceeding Power and the jolly, Purdey’s Gift look dangers.
