BADENSCOTH, an impressive winner at Wolverhampton last month, has a good chance of doubling up at the same track tonight and in doing so, defying a seven pound hike in the weights.
Given a confident ride by Franny Norton, who is back in the plate today, he won over the 1m 1 1/2 furlong trip by 2 3/4 lengths. Rubensian, who finished 5 3/4 lengths behind the stable runner is 9lbs better off today but that may not be enough to turn the tables on a horse who is unexposed at the trip.
He’s short at around 11/10 but justifiably so and the course and distance winner should go close in this six-runner contest and make it four career wins in 20 starts.
Kadrizzi by contrast, has more miles on the clock (36 races) and it is a long time since he won. His last success was at Ascot in the Shergar Cup back in August 2016 off a mark of 97. Today, he is one of 11 runners in a 7f handicap at Leicester (4.50pm) and is running off 78. While not the horse he was, he has been running reasonably well on the all-weather this winter and would have an each-way squeak at 14/1 under Adam Kirby. However, he is a somewhat risky proposition and former stable mate, Firmdecisions, could be a more likely winner.
