BADENSCOTH, a winner four times this season runs in the lucky last at York today (5.35pm), a 1m2f 0-95 handicap and he has soft conditions which he relishes.
He ran a crack in the Cambrdigeshire a fortnight ago when tenth, beaten less than ten lengths at 100/1 but the ground was good that day and he likes to get his toe in. Today, Joey Haynes rides the 22/1 shot and with the ground in his favour (he was a soft ground winner at Sandown in the summer) he could reward each-way backers.
Joey is also aboard 66/1 rank outsider, Lancelot Du Lac in the Coral Sprint Handicap Cup at 3.50pm on the Knavesmire. Probably not the force of old, he ran well last time out when third in a Conditions race at Chelmsford and at least today he will relish the soft going. He is now rated 95, some nine pounds lower than when he won the Stewards’ Cup in 2017 under a certain Mr Dettori. In an ultra competitive sprint, there would be worse 66/1 shots to back during the course of a season. However, the likes of Hey Jonesy, Growl, Aplomb and Air Raid probably have stronger claims.
