A P ON SIXTYSOMETHING AS HE MOVES CLOSER TO 4,000 WINS

Sixtysomething – runs in the 12.25 at Wetherby

A P McCoy is just eight wins short of a staggering 4,000 career victories and he’ll be hoping Paul Webber’s Sixtysomething can move him closer when he partners the 7yo Dom Alco grey gelding in the opener at Wetherby (12.45).

The 3 mile 1f novice chase looks a match between McCoy’s mount and Mendip Express but the champion jockey’s hunger for winners knows no bounds and his strength in the saddle may just prevail on the 5/4 shot.

Cropredy Lawn could have a good day as Alasi runs in the 1.50 at Wetherby, a mares’ Listed hurdle in which she was second last year, having won in 2011.  She hasn’t run for 212 days but goes well fresh and has an eight pound pull for being beaten 2 1/2 lengths a year ago by Une Artiste.  Dominic Elsworth takes the ride and the mare looks worth an each-way look at around 7/1.

At bigger odds Rhapando could go well in the last at Ascot for Denis O’Regan, a two miles bumper due off at 4.20.  There has been money for the 4yo son of Hernando but he can still be backed each-way at 16/1.

Earlier in the day in the 3.50 at Ascot Paul sends out Couldhavehaditall in the 2 mile novice hurdle with Tom O’Brien in the saddle but this £75,000 Milan gelding could struggle to beat the likes of Beach Fire and No No Mac.
