WEBBER’S CANTLOW ENTERED FOR GRAND NATIONAL

Paul Webber – has Cantlow in Grand National

CANTLOW is one of 11 J P McManus entries in this year’s Grand National and the Paul Webber trained 9yo son of Kayf Tara is an interesting 50/1 outsider.

Nine year-olds have a good record in Aintree’s blue riband with recent previous winners of the same age including Mon Mome, Comply Or Die, Hedgehunter, Papillon and Bobbyjo.  He seems to have a nice racing weight of 11 stone, the same weight carried by Ballabriggs, Mon Mome and Rhyme ‘N’ Reason.

Tony McCoy, who has been aboard for all three of his chase wins is unlikely to partner him should he line up on April 5th with Colbert Station and Double Seven being more fancied mounts for the 18-times champion jockey.

Cantlow is a 20/1 shot for the Ryanair Chase at Cheltenham over 2m 5f and it may be that Prestbury Park in March is a more attractive proposition than Aintree in April but it’s always good to have options and the Grand National entry would not have been made lightly.
