J P McMANUS, Britain’s biggest National Hunt supporter, won today with Cantlow, who earned over £30,000 for winning the Open Handicap Chase at Newbury, so providing Paul Webber with another big payday.

This talented son of Kayf Tara won two novice chases in 2012 but after disappointing at Aintree last year and at Wetherby on his seasonal reappearance, he bounced back to form under the champion jockey to win today’s biggest purse at the Berkshire track.  Future plans may include the December Gold Cup at Cheltenham in December.

The Master of Cropredy Lawn’s horses are coming into form and today’s winner was the third over jumps in the last week. The yard has won 12 races under jumps this season, with 50% of all runs having won or been placed in the first four.
