RED COSSACK may not have won a race in three juvenile starts but this very exciting horse is currently enjoying a well earned break, wallowing in glorious mud at Cropredy Lawn.
This morning I went up to see how this placed 75-rated son of Rebellion is enjoying his winter sojourn with his turned out compatriots and he looked woolly, muddy…but very, very happy.
Paul Webber’s 200-acre Cropredy Lawn has ten turn-out paddocks and Red Cossack, aka “Lenin” in some quarters, is thriving in one of these huge paddocks with just five companions. Paul has described him as a “bumptious hooligan” who needs to learn some manners and hopefully, having been bossed around by some older horses, he will come back as a 3yo with “a little more respect for others and some exemplary manners.”
So, hopefully no equine ASBO will need to be served!
“Lenin” is a very exciting prospect for next year and should give the Solario Racing(Banbury) syndicate some great days out in 2014.
Of course, we are now well and truly into the National Hunt Season. I was privy to some of Paul’s current and potential jumping stars in action. Tomorrow, I’ll say a little more…
