CROPREDY LAWN staged its annual Owners’ Day yesterday and as the English summer continued into September, over 200 owners and potential owners enjoyed a fabulous parade of the Cropredy horses in training followed by drinks and a buffet lunch.
The horses were paraded in clockwork fashion in the “pre-parade ring” in groups of eight and they included stable stars, Time For Rupert, Alasi and Cantlow as well as raw, untapped talent, including several promising novice chasers and Solario Racing’s 2yo, Red Cossack.
The horses were by and large very well behaved although occasionally, a horse would test his lad’s patience. Paul gave an incisive and informative commentary on each horse, focussing both on its historical record and highlighting future race plans.
Following the parade, guests were treated to a light summer lunch comprising kedgeree, chocolate mousse and Brie accompanied by the odd libation!
The day was superbly organised and was a great credit to Paul, his Racing Secretary, Suzanne and all the staff. Paul gave a nice mention to Solario Racing’s Red Cossack, who makes his eagerly awaited debut at Leicester tomorrow.
Whether you are flat or jumps orientated, if you are thinking of getting involved in racehorse ownership, you could do worse than put your horse with Paul Webber.
