THE saying, “the shines on the righteous” was beginning to haunt me four weeks ago when we postponed our Gallops Morning. The gods were clearly transpiring against us and I was beginning to think I’d upset someone along the way.
Well, all the planning which goes into such an event paid dividends today with interest as we were blessed with possibly the driest, sunniest and warmest day of the year and as a result they flocked in large numbers to Bowstridge Farm.
Around a hundred owners, prospective owners, family and friends turned up today to see two very nice two-year-olds strut their stuff – the beautifully bred Amadeus Wolf filly and the striking, athletic Rebellion colt.
After teas, coffees and cakes, it was down to the gallops where the four Solario Racing horses worked in pairs with four other horses. The Rebellion colt certainly caught the eye and went very impressively with older horse and a very good worker, Arachnophobia. There was a last minute jockey change with Mrs Sarah Bosley stepping in for Martin Lane aboard the Amadeus Wolf filly who went very nicely with Spaceman.
It was then back to the yard for champagne and sausages and judging by the consumption of both (16 bottles of bubbly and 440 sausages) we think people had a good time! Both Martin Bosley and Paul Webber did a Q&A with yours truly and gave some horses to look out for in the near future!
There was a lot of strong interest in both two-year-olds and all the contracts available disapeared!
If you came today but would like to come back for a personal visit, you are more than welcome. Equally, if you were unable to make today, why not arrange your own private tour? Please call the Racing Office on 01442 877 597 or email us at info@solarioracing.com to arrange a suitable date.
