‘WE’RE HAVING A HEAT WAVE, A TROPICAL HEAT WAVE…” AREN’T WE?

IF recent long range weather forecasts are to be believed, perhaps Irving Berlin’s 1930s lyrics, “We’re having a heat wave, a tropical heat wave” may be a prophesy of things to come in April.

The Met Office blog this week put an objective dampener on some optimistic rays of sunshine saying, “The articles reference a line from our March to May three-month outlook for contingency planners which refers to how our Spring weather can change depending on where large areas of ‘blocking’ high pressure systems lie in relation to the UK – something we recently wrote about when  contrasting the weather this March to that of last year.

“This is not, however, a forecast of what the weather is expected to be like at the end of the spring or whether a ‘heatwave’ is likely or not, but is an indication of how average temperatures may differ from normal throughout the whole three month period of March, April and May.”

I don’t know whether to yawn or cry.

While March may yet be one of the coldest on record, surely spring will arrive soon much to the relief of farmers, gardeners, racehorse trainers and just about everybody from Cornwall to the Isle of Arran.

They say the sun shines on the righteous.  Let us hope it shines for our rescheduled Gallops Morning on Sunday 21 April, 11am – 1.30pm.

We are delighted with the response from owners and prospective owners who were due to come last Sunday.  To a man (and woman – we do have many women owners) they all said we’d made the right call.

Come and see some possible equine stars of the future strutting their stuff on the gallops and enjoy some Solario Racing champagne hospitality.  Family and friends are most welcome.

We are expecting a bumper crowd so to book your place, please call the Racing Office on 01442 877 597 or email us at info@solarioracing.com.

But don’t delay…book today!  In the meantime, as the clocks are about to spring forward leading to longer evenings, bring on Eric and Ernie’s famous joyous signature tune…..you know the one!
