WARWICK RACECOURSE staged an RSA Syndicate Day yesterday and its promotion as “Fiver Friday” was a huge success with some 4,500 spectators.
The Racehorse Syndicates Association, the main body which represents most of the major syndicates in British racing, with a membership of over 90 different syndicates and clubs, was looking to promote syndication on the racecourse and this was the second year running Warwick had hosted such a promo event.
Four syndicate companies sponsored a race, there was the opportunity to have a trade stand and for any RSA syndicate which won a race, there was a £3,000 bonus pool up for grabs.
There were four RSA syndicates with runners and to the delight and surprise of Potwell Racing Syndicate, they won the pot when their Anthony Honeyball-trained Credo won the fourth race on the card, the Handicap Chase. No other RSA syndicate runner won, so the whole bonus pool went to Potwell Racing. They didn’t realise there was a bonus pool on offer, so they were especially thrilled to receive the £3,000 cheque handed over by RSA Chair, Dan Abraham at the end of racing.
“Inside The Rails” podcast hosts, yours truly and Phil Boyle both had trade stands and both were interviewed by that doyen of paddock commentators, Tim Peters. We both talked about our own syndicate businesses and were then asked about the podcast.
Tim rattled off some of the great guests we have interviewed during the last two years which include Tom Scudamore, Mike Cattermole, Cieren Fallon and Francesca Cumani.
Rishi Persad was our latest guest and next Monday, Phil and I will be interviewing trainer, David Pipe in episode 28, which will go on air March 1st.
A big thank you to RSA committee member, Tommy Williams, whose day job is General Manager at Warwick Racecourse. He orchestrated a great day with a good, enthusiastic crowd, some of whom at least will be more aware than maybe before about syndication opportunities and the role of the RSA.
