Pledge Of Honour – supported at Kempton

PLEDGE OF HONOUR is one of two stable runners today when he lines up for the mile handicap at Kempton (6pm) and the son of Shamardal has been well supported to run a big race.

Previously a 10f winner on the grass at Newbury, he ran well at Kempton on his debut in 2019 as a 3yo when third over a mile.  He’s lightly raced, in good form at home and will hopefully run well under George Downing and at around 7/1, has sound each-way claims in an open handicap.

Flaming Spear runs later on the same card, two hours later at 8.05pm in a 7f handicap under Sophie Ralston who takes the ride on the chestnut son of Lope De Vega for the first time.  He’s been dropping down the weights for a while now and runs off just 82.  A previous winner at the track over a mile, the best of last year’s form would show him in a good light and if he put his best foot forward, he would have an each-way squeak at around 33/1.
