HARPER LODGE FARM sends out its first runners of 2021, with Stake Acclaim starting the ball rolling at Lingfield in the 1.10 and Callum Shepherd is an interesting booking on the talented but woefully out of form sprinter.
The son of Acclamation did not beat a rival home in his three and only starts of 2020, being beaten an aggregate of 31 1/2 lengths. However, he has slipped down the handicap and is now on 89, having been on 102 at the start of last season. He is the outsider of six at 18/1 and there’s no real reason on form to suggest he’ll win but there has been money for him and Callum Shepherd is one of the rising young stars on the flat.
George Downing goes Wolverhampton for Fantastic Flyer in the 4.50 and Nezar in the 7.20. The former is well handicapped but out of form and is weak in the market. The latter is at his favourite track and won this race off a 6lb lower mark last year from stall nine. Today, he’s drawn seven and at 12/1 is of interest each-way.
