Bruyere – runs at Lingfield
DEAN runs two today, Bruyere at Lingfield in the 3.25 and Stake Acclaim in the 6pm at Wolverhampton and the former has the assistance of Tom Marquand, who is a rare jockey booking for the yard.
The 4yo filly is stepping up to 1m4f for the first time and if she gets the trip, she’d be interesting off 2lbs lower than her winning mark in the mud at Nottingham last year. The concern is that she disappointed in her last two outings on the turf and also, she has failed to trouble the judge in her three previous starts on the all-weather. However, Tom Marquand is an eye-catching booking and she might be worth risking each-way at 18/1.
Stake Acclaim is a 50/1 shot in the 5f handicap at Wolverhampton and George Downing rides the outsider of the whole party. The 8yo son of Acclamation is not only drawn wide in nine but also has a 163-day absence to overcome. However, those with long memories will remember him winning at Newbury last year after a 563-day absence! He may need the run this time around but 50/1 is an insulting price for a horse with his ability.
