KERRERA is one of four stable runners at Chelmsford today, when lining up for the 10 furlong handicap at 7.30 and the mare has been backed from 20/1 into 12/1.
She is 3lbs below a winning mark and has won at the course over a mile. JImmy Quinn takes the ride on the daughter of Champs Eylsyees who is drawn nicely in stall six. If she can recapture her best form, she’d have an each-way chance but she’s not totally reliable.
On form, Flaming Spear would appear to have the chance of the yard’s runners when lining up for the 4.30, a mile handicap. He’s surprisingly weak in the market at 5/1 which looks good each-way value. George Downing rides as he does the other two runners, Tropics (5.30pm) and Lothario (8pm). They are 50/1 and 9/1 respectively.
Tropics, a course and distance winner is one of 10 runners in the 6f handicap and will pop up one day but he hasn’t won since June of last year and is not the force of old while Lothario is a doubtful stayer over 1m2f. However, the latter has been creeping down the weights and is very well handicapped, so cannot be discounted.
