THE STABLE’S quartet of runners at Chelmsford tonight, comprising Tropics (6pm), Laurentia (7.30pm), Tangramm (8pm) and Kerrera (8.30pm) all face stiff tasks.
The 12yo veteran Tropics is one of seven runners in the 6f sprint and he’s much better over 5f at the Essex track so is hard to fancy, especially as he’s 2lb “wrong” at the weights compared with future races.
Laurentia is a winner this season but it was in a very moderate Classified Stakes, she was raised 9lbs for her victory and failed to impress next time out in a mile handicap. She’s rather moderate and will have to improve to win tonight’s mile contest.
Tangramm has been off the track for 292 days and although he’s a dual course and distance winner (1m2f), he’s likely to need the run. The 8yo gelding is weak in the market at 25/1.
Finally, Kerrera is one of 14 runners in the finale, a 10 furlong handicap. She does go well fresh and might just have a small each-way squak in a very difficult race to unravel.
George Downing rides all four stable runners.
