MADAME’S GIRL and LAURENTIA both line up for the 5.25 at Lingfield (all-weather) today, a Classified Stakes for 3yos and upwards, rated 0-50, over a mile and though the former is 25/1, she could be the value.
On the face of it, she has shown little in three all-weather novice events over 7f/mile but now dropped in grade, this 49-rated daughter of Rock of Gibraltar, could start to come into her own. One of just three 3yos in the race, she is the top-rated and therefore best off at the weights compared with the rest of the field. Drawn well in two, George Downing rides and she could be worth an each-way look at a big price.
Laurentia, by contrast, rated 45, is much more exposed but has been placed in this sort of company. She only ran three days ago, is 5/1 in the market and has place claims at least but does not have the scope of Madame’s Girl. Sophie Ralston, her usual pilot, takes the ride in this low grade affair.
