YIMOU, the very well bred son of Kodiac is one of eight runners today in the lucky last (8.50pm) at Newbury, a 6f handicap and it will be interesting to see how he fares on fast ground for the first time.
Only lightly raced, he has shown ability but the handicapper has been slow to drop him in two handicap defeats. However, last time out he raced on good to soft over course and distance while his previous four career starts were all on the all-weather.
Martin Dwyer is in the plate and he’s ridden him in four of his five races. At 8/1 he may be worth a speculative each-way look. The two biggest dangers would appear to be the in-form Spanish Star (behind Spring Romance last year at Windsor) and the first-time visored Across The Sea.
