Solario Racing (Ashridge) toast Dancinginthewoods
SOLARIO RACING’S two-year-old colt by Garswood, known as “Woody” has been officially named by his owners, Dancinginthewoods.
The small but select Solario Racing (Ashridge) syndicate met yesterday at Harper Lodge Farm for their Naming Day. Having all voted beforehand on various names, they arrived at the stables for third lot to find out and toast the winning name before seeing Dancinginthewoods on the gallops.

The name was chosen by Mick White, who has had more legs in racehorses than he cares to remember! However, one he’ll never forget is Dirar, trained by Gordon Elliott to win the Ebor in 2010. While that gave Mick much pleasure, this is the first horse he’s been associated with that he’s named! (Mick was rather pleased!)
It was a non-work day, so the colt did one gentle canter under his regular lad and pilot, Luke Bacon before posing with his owners in the main quad. The horse has always had a lovely attitude ever since arriving at Harper Lodge Farm last autumn and yesterday, he behaved impeccably in front of the camera, even though he’s a colt!

Name known, gallops done, photos posed, it was off to a familiar haunt in St Albans, Sauté Grill and Meze Restaurant for the traditional Naming Day lunch. As always the food was excellent and there was the odd tincture or too!
Dancinginthewoods had a very pleasing Barrier Trials experience at Lingfield last week and he’s due to make his racecourse debut proper in around three weeks’ time.
