KADRIZZI, one of two stable runners tonight at Wolverhampton, steps up to beyond a mile first the first time ever and if the longer trip suits, this well handicapped 6yo could improve on recent lucklustre efforts.
The chestnut son of Hurrican Cat has not won since August 2016 and as a result his handicap has plummeted from 97 as it was then to his present mark of 73. His task is made much easier with the withdrawal of favourite, International Law and he is well drawn, four of eight.
While he’s a somewhat risky proposition, the extra yardage should suit and with eight going to post, he’s worth a look each-way at 8/1. Tom Queally rides him for the first time.
Dean also runs One Cool Daddy in the lucky last, a 1mile and 1/2furlong novice at 8.30pm. The 4yo son of Scat Daddy won on his debut at Kempton last spring and was then second at the same track to a horse of John Gosden’s, King’s Shield who ended the season rated 107.
However, the stable runner has to carry a penalty for his win and being a 4yo, gives weight away to the three-year-olds, so tonight he no easy task lumping 10st 7lbs and giving 21lbs to the likes of favourite, Muraad and second favourite, Emirates Knight. One Cool Daddy, the mount of Franny Norton and a 5/1 chance is a decent animal but may struggle at tonight’s weights.
