DEAN runs two tonight at Kempton in the same race, Eljaddaaf and Tropics in the 6f handicap at 6pm and it is the former who is the more favoured in the betting.
The Jack Duern-ridden Eljaddaaf is a solid 9/2 shot and given the 7yo Shamardal gelding’s record at Kempton and the fact that he won over course and distance last time out, it’s perhaps not surprising that’s he’s one of the market leaders. In fact, he’s a four times course and distance winner and drawn six of eight, he should be there or thereabouts.
The veteran Tropics, the mount of Robert Winston, is drawn next to his stablemate in five and he too has all-weather form but mainly at Chelmsford, where he has won three times in the last year. Weak in the betting at 14/1, he needs to bounce back to win today but it’s not beyond the realms of possibilities, especially with the yard in such good form.
