Cappananty Con – runs at Kempton in the 8.55
THE current heatwave shows no signs of abating meaning there is still Good To Firm and Firm ground throughout the country. Dean is reluctant to run many on such fast going so thank goodness for all-weather racing and today, he sends four to Kempton.
Nezar starts the Harper Lodge Farm ball rolling in the 5.20, an apprentice handicap over 7f. Although not well drawn, 10 of 11, he ran well last time out when second, beaten a neck over course and distance. With jockey William Carver, claiming five pounds, he could go close off a one pound higher mark at 8/1.
Villette and Tangramm and 8/1 and 12/1 respectively in the 8.25, a 1m3f handicap. The former, who won over course and distance is not the most consistent of fillies but she should make her presence felt off a 3lb higher mark under regular pilot, Rob Hornby.
Tangramm, All-Weather Horse of the Year for 2015/16, has won at Kempton over 1m4f and is on a winning mark. He has each-way possibilities under Charles Bishop but needs to defy a wide draw.
Finally, Cappananty Con, should appreciate the return to the all-weather after a good fourth at Windsor last time out. The son of Zebedee needs holding up and is not the easiest of rides but Robert Winston knows him well and he too has each-way claims at 11/1 in the 6f handicap at 8.55pm.
