NEZAR ANOTHER WINNER FOR JACK DUERN

Nezar

NEZAR was backed into 9/4 favourite at Wolverhampton last night and justified being at the head of the market with a comfortable win under stable apprentice, Jack Duern, his second this week.

The 7yo chestnut gelding by Mastercraftsman had been knocking at the door in three all-weather outings this year and he had a fair amount in his favour going into the seven furlong contest.  Well drawn in two, Nezar had won over the distance and was back on a winning mark (74), the same as when winning last April at Dunstall Park over six furlongs.  He also had the in-form Jack Duern on board.

During the race itself, he was held up, tracking the pace and after making his move a furlong from home, was ridden out to win by one and a quarter lengths win over Energio Flavio.  It was a further three and a quarter lengths back to the third horse, Jack Nevison.

This was Nezar’s second win for Dean since his first run for the yard last February, having been with three previous trainers including William Haggas.  He has won or been in the first four in just under two-thirds of his 17 starts for the stable.

Winning jockey, Jack Duern has got off to a flyer this year with last night’s win by Nezar his second in a week following his success on One Cool Daddy on Wednesday.  It was his fifth success of the year so far, just three behind last year’s total and we are only in March!

As for Dean Ivory’s start to the year, Nezar’s success was the 13th win of the campaign this year and it was a pretty good day for the stable’s five runners with Mimram’s third and Lancelot Du Lac coming fourth in unsuitably heavy conditions at Donny.
