Zebedee – high class 2yo and 2yo sire
SOLARIO RACING is delighted with its latest purchase, a yearling colt by Zebedee out of a winning Shamardal mare. But in what way delighted?
Delighted in terms of the athletic individual, how the colt has settled in at Harper Lodge Farm and also its pedigree, which is full of speed and precocity.
Zebedee was a high class 2yo sprinter, winning six of his seven starts including the Group 3 Molecomb Stakes and the Group 2 Flying Childers, both over 5f.
Trainer Richard Hannon Snr said, ” We knew back in March that ZEBEDEE was going to be our first winner on the turf that season – he was that precocious….Not many two-year-olds win six but he is so laid-back both at home and when he goes to the races.”
Not all great racehorses translate their ability to their progeny at stud…but Zebedee has! He was 2014 Champion European First-Season Sire with 32 winners and the following year was 2015 Champion European Second-Season Sire with 66 winners. His 2yo record is phenomenal as he is the sire of 80 individual 2YO Winners from his first three crops to race.
The dam’s side of the pedigree isn’t bad either! But more of that later.
