SOARING SPIRITS only faces three runners today at Brighton (4.30) but it’s a tricky 6f contest as he aims to complete a four-timer.
All four runners can be given a chance but the Dean Ivory runner will hopefully be able to dominate this small field under Robert Winston who has ridden him in his last three wins. The horse is still well handicapped and in a tight contest in which top-weight Upavon might be the main danger, the 13/8 favourite will hopefully oblige.
Dean also runs Surfina, an 11/1 shot in the 5f maiden auction stakes at the Sussex track, due off at 2pm. David Parkes claiming five pounds takes the ride and if the first time cheek-pieces work, the 2yo Acclamation filly could belie her odds but she needs to improve on her first four runs. The even money favourite, Tullinahoo is the one to beat.
