POSTPONED may have had his doubters, dropping back to ten furlongs but to his supporters, the only surprise was not his win but his 15/8 starting price as he beat all-comers in one of the best Juddmonte International fields in recent years.

The five-year-old son of Dubawi was winning his sixth race in a row and his third Group One on the bounce.  Despite the quality of the eleven strong opposition which included four other Group One winners and the recent quiet spell of the Roger Varian stable, once he hit the front three out, the result was never really in question as he beat recent King George winner, Highland Reel by a length and a quarter under a confident ride by Andrea Atzeni.

In gaining his ninth success in seventeen career starts, Postponed passed the £4million in prize money and is expected to go straight to the Arc de Triomphe.

The other big winner of the day was Idaho for Aidan O’Brien who completed a one-two in the Great Voltigeur with Housesofparliament filling the runner-up spot.

There was a turn-up in the Acomb Stakes with 16/1 shot Sphyax beating the odds-on Best Of Days by a head while jockey honours went to Andrea Atzeni who recorded a double on the day, having won the opener on Boom The Groom.

Meanwhile at Kempton in the evening, Dean Ivory saw a welcome return to form for Sirius Prospect who was third under John Egan in the London Mile Qualifier.
