IVORY SAILS PAST £400K AS STABLE HITS OVERDRIVE

Twin Sails

Twin Sails

DEAN IVORY eased past the £400,000 prize money barrier for the year when Twin Sails ran a great race to be second, beaten half a length at Goodwood yesterday.

Last year’s dual winning juvenile had some smart form including a close fourth in the Group Two Vintage Stakes to subsequent 2000 Guineas winner, Galileo Gold.  One of 16 runners in a competitive 7f handicap, he was well supported yesterday and just found one too good in the shape of Shady McCoy.

While Dane O’Neill rode Twin Sails, Robert Winston went to Leicester for two Ivory mounts and those who took the hint will have been well rewarded as Bobby Vee won the 2yo fillies’ maiden auction stakes while Soaring Spirits completed the hat-trick in the 6f handicap to give Ivory and Winston a near 29/1 double.

The stable has hit a purple patch of late with five winners from the last eleven runners and all bar two of those runners have been in the prize money.  The yard is on 28 wins for the year, which is the most it has ever had at this stage of the season.

Without wishing to tempt fate, and he probably won’t thank me for saying this, Dean is on course for his best ever year in terms of prize money and winners.
