DEAN IVORY runs three horses today in East Anglia, two at Yarmouth and one at Newmarket.
Proceedings start with Catharina in the 2.50 at Yarmouth and the 4yo Dutch Art filly is looking to defy a 10lb rise for her six length win last time out at Lingfield. She is one of 10 lining up for the 10f handicap and although dropping back in trip, she should be competitive and at 9/2 has a sound each-way chance under Renato Souza. Another last time out winner, Togetherwecan looks one of the principal threats.
Spinning Rose, second to Catharina last time out, looks to go one better when one of 12 runners in the mile handicap, due off at 5pm. This is a significant drop back in trip and if it suits, the Pivotal filly would have each-way claims at 15/2 under Robert Winston. The odds-on favourite, Theydon Thunder could be a blot on the handicap.
Robert then moves on to Newmarket to ride Golden Amber in the 7.55, a five-runner Conditions event over 6f. The 98-rated Holy Roman Emperor mare is quite well suited by the weights but this is a tight contest. She is fairly weak in the market at 6/1 but could belie her odds.
Also at Newmarket, earlier in the afternoon, Paul Webber runs Red Cossack in the 5.45, a mile handicap and the drop in class could suit. Pad Dobbs rides for the first time and although he is difficult to predict, “Rebel” could reward each-way backers at 12/1 if putting his best foot forward. The George Baker-ridden Rocket Ronnie may be the one to beat.
