LANCELOT DU LAC is a 50/1 outsider for Dean Ivory in the Group One King’s Stand on the opening day of Royal Ascot.
Eighteen currently go to post for the prestigious 5f sprint, the third race on the card, due off at 3.40pm. On all known form and ratings, Lancelot has a lot to find with many of the principals but he’ll cope with the soft ground, having won twice on Good to Soft and been third in a Listed race on heavy.
Most of his winning has also been over 6f but his last victory was over five. The horse also has an entry in Friday’s Wokingham Handicap, in which he was third last year but Dean has chosen to let him take his chance in the big one today.
The ground has come right for the favourite, Mecca’s Angel but at 15/8, she’s plenty short enough and with Robert Winston on board (19 wins from 66 rides for the yard at a strike rate of 29%) Lancelot Du Lac might be worth an each-way interest. He’s a top-priced 50/1 with Skybet who are offering five places.
Solario Racing wishes connections the very best of luck!
