Dean Ivory – saddles six at Windsor
DEAN IVORY saddles six horses at Windsor tonight in four races and one or two look to have good chances. Stake Acclaim and Tagula Night kick off proceedings in the 5.20, a 5f handicap and the former looks to have stronger claims under Robert Winston. Tonight’s going is soft and the 4yo son of Acclamation won his maiden under similar conditions as a 2yo. He won a Newmarket handicap last year and looks to have more to offer on the turf. The top weight is 3/1 second favourite, whereas Tagula Night is friendless at 25/1 for 3lb claimer Jack Duern. An hour later Links Drive Lady is a 14/1 shot in a 6f handicap. This three times course and distance winner will handle conditions but she has won just once in the last two years and is difficult to predict. Jack Duern take a handy 3lbs off but the less exposed pair, Navigate and Flowers On Venus may prove the stronger.
Goldslinger – claims in the 6.50
Goldslinger has claims at around 10/3 in the seven runner 1m 3f 135yd handicap due off at 6.50pm. Again, he’ll relish conditions but he needs a career best to win. Robert Winston rides the Gold Away 4yo who has a good strike rate of four wins in 11 starts. Dean’s final runners are O Dee (Renato Silva) and Secret Bird (Robert Winston) in the lucky last, another 6f handicap. At 40/1 and 9/1 respectively, the market would indicate that Secret Bird has the better each-way chance. Paul Webber saddles just the one today, Copperfacejack in the 7.40 at Huntingdon and the 13/2 shot would have each-way claims under Charlie Poste in the 9-runner handicap chase over 2m 3f 189 yds. He has been well supported into 11/2.
