TROPICS AIMING TO GO ONE BETTER IN JULY CUP

Tropics - 25/1 for the July Cup

Tropics – 25/1 for the July Cup

TROPICS is being aimed at the  Group One July Cup and trainer Dean Ivory is hoping his stable star can go one better than last year when he was second at 66/1 to Slade Power.

He has a good record at Newmarket’s July course having twice won the Stobart Members Club Hopeful Stakes, a Listed event over 6f.  However, he does have to put a disappointing run in the Diamond Jubilee Stakes at Royal Ascot behind him when he beat just one home.

Dean Ivory is quietly confident that returning to the course he loves could see Tropics back to his best.  The Radlett handler said in the Racing & Football Outlook’s Trainer File: “The July Cup at Newmarket next week is his target again as he loves the course. I’m just hoping for a drop of rain because, although he has won three times on good to firm, he’s better with a little cut.”

The horse is currently a top priced 25/1 for the July Meeting’s feature event.

Dean Ivory is also planning an assault on the Bunbury Cup with Firmdecisions and Sirius Prospect who are 16/1 and 40/1 for the prestigious handicap over 7f.
