LANCELOT DU LAC FINE THIRD IN WOKINGHAM

Lancelot Du Lac

LANCELOT DU LAC ran one of his best races in defeat on Saturday at Royal Ascot when third in the Wokingham, beaten just two and a quarter lengths by the gambled on Interception.

This fine run was just four days after Dean Ivory’s charge ran creditably in the Group One King’s Stand Stakes.  He was always likely to fare better in the handicap but nevertheless, this was a good effort as the 5yo son of Shamardal was still 6lbs higher than when 12th in the race last year.

The handicapper has put up Lancelot a pound to 109, which is just one pound short of his career best.  There will be plenty of other top races for him to target during the second half of the season and although probably aiming too high, he does have an entry in the Group One July Cup.
