PRIDE OF AMERICA, the stable’s flagship older horse, who won the historic and prestigious John Smith’s Cup at York in July, bids today to gain black type for the first time when competing in a Listed race over 1m2f, due off at 1.50pm.

He has won seven races, six of them for Amy and has climbed the handicap ranks from 79 when first running for Southgate Stables in March of last year to his current rating of 110.

Today, his task is made easier by the withdrawal of the Group One horse, My Prospero for the William Haggas yard. If he can beat favourite, Royal Rhyme, who is rated 108, he should win.

The Fredick Larson rides Pride of America who is the 5/2 second favourite.

The going is Good to Soft, Good in places, which would not suit the Redcar winner, Taritino, so he waits for another day.

However, Tarbaan has a sound each-way chance at around 8/1 in the 10 furlong contest for three-year-olds and upwards rated 0-78. He was third at Ripon off the same mark three weeks ago, not beaten far, so he should be there or thereabouts under Kevin Stott who has won on him before.

SHARP DISTINCTION, a winner last time out at Yarmouth over 1m6f, steps back up to two miles at Kempton this afternoon (5pm) and again has a wide draw to defy.

The 4yo son of Tamayuz has defied wide draws over course and distance twice before to be placed, so he’s used to having to cope with such disadvantage.

Adam Farragher again rides, claiming 3lbs and at 12/1 the chestnut gelding has a sound each-way chance.

Earlier in the day, Amy runs Macedonian King at Kempton (2.10pm) and he’s the 40/1 outsider and needs to improve for the switch to the all-weather to trouble the judge. Luke Morris rides.

Also at Kempton, Dancing Eyes makes her debut at 3.55pm under Saffie Osborne and is one of 11 fillies making their debut. She is a 10/1 chance.

At Windsor, the stable probably has its best chance of a winner when Dubai Hills lines up as favourite in the 4.55 with Rowan Scott in the saddle for a 6f novice.

Le Brok Cafe is the 17/2 outsider of seven in the 6.3.0 at Windsor, a 6f nursery. She has to improve but may do with Hollie Doyle in the plate.

TARBAAN is one of three stable runners today, when lining up for the 7.10 at Newmarket tonight, a 1m2f handicap and he’s below a winning mark, so could be interesting each-way under Kevin Stott at around 9/1.

He’s slipped to his lowest ever mark of 74 and the reapplication of cheekpieces could help. The one to beat though is the hat- trick seeking Finest Leader under William Buick.

Fly Pass (3.10 Thirsk) needs the step up in trip to 7f to bring about improvement. Brandon Wilkie takes a useful 7lbs off this 9/1 shot who would have an each-way squeak.

Back at HQ, at 5.25pm, Lady Of Africa, rated 47 has it all to do in a six-runner seller. Adam Farragher, claims 3lbs but that’s unlikely to be enough in this company for the 33/1 runner.

TARITINO’S form is all on fast ground and he’s not going to get that tonight at Newmarket in the 0-75 handicap over a mile (8pm).

The step up in trip will help but any rain that comes will blunt his speed and at the very best, he’ll get just good ground. He should still run well but the forecast thundery showers would negate his chances. However, at 14/1, there would be worse each-way bets.

Amy runs three others and Raqisa, under Ryan Kavanagh looks to have a great each-way chance at 7/1 in the the 6.55, a 0-75 handicap for 3yos+ over 1m4f. The 5yo mare looked a shade unlucky last time out at Windsor.

The other stable runners are Fly Pass (3.10 at Wolverhampton) and Via Electriano (6.30 Bath). They are weak in the market at 12/1 and 8/1 respectively. The latter could improve for the application of first time blinkers and the filly has an each-way squeak.

SHARP DISTINCTION, the bridesmaid on three occasions and also third in three other runs from 12 starts, has a lot in his favour at Yarmouth tomorrow (3.35pm) and maybe tomorrow is the day he gets his head in front.

He ran a fine race at York when third under Tom Marquand, when probably not quite getting the 2 mile trip. The drop back to 1m6f should suit, as should the ground, currently Good to Soft (soft in places) and the jockey booking of Adam Farragher, claiming 3lbs is another plus.

He’s currently trading at around 100/30 favourite and is strong in the market. The son of Tamayuz will hopefully have his day in the sun…or showers…tomorrow. Good luck to Solario Racing (Berkhamsted) in what looks an open handicap.

The stable also runs Daniel Deronda, ridden by George Wood. He’s well handicapped and could be overpriced at 22/1.

Pride Of America bids to follow up his John Smith’s Cup triumph when lining up for the competitive Coral Chesterfield Cup at Glorious Goodwood (2.50pm). He’s up 4lb for that win and may struggle in handicap company off a mark of 110. The possible drying ground will not be a help either. He’s an 8/1 chance but Willie Haggas’ Millebosc, who reopposes on better terms compared with York is a big threat and this former French Derby third could turn the tables on Pride Of America.

Back at Yarmouth, Fillyfudge has a good chance of following up her win over course and distance (1m2f) under George Wood while Calleveryoneuknow has an each-way chance under stable apprentice, Ryan Kavanagh in the mile handicap at 4.45pm.

DANCINGINTHEWOODS, owned by Solario Racing (Ashridge) goes back to Lingfield today (2.20pm) over 7f in a 0-85 handicap for 4yos and upwards, exactly the same type of race as when he was third at the track last month at the Winter Millions Festival.

He bumped into a very well handicapped All The King’s Men that day but still ran a creditable third, despite running with the choke out for the first part of the contest.

Today, he’s well drawn, 2 of 10 and again three-pound claimer Frederick Larson, who has ridden him in all four all-weather starts with form figures of 1233, is in the plate.

“Woody” has sound each-way credentials at around 7/1 but it’s a competitive heat with Jilly Cooper and Sayifyouwill two of several dangers.

Amy also runs Magical Morning at Meydan (4.20pm) in a Group 3 over 1m6f. The 6yo son of Muhaarar, a 33/1 shot, has to improve massively for the step up in trip but he might just run into a place at big odds.

ELEGANT ELLEN and Golden Mayflower have favourites’ chances at Kempton tonight in the 6pm and 7.30pm respectively.

The former runs in a 12-runner 7f 0-50 Classified Stakes, having won over course and distance in a similar race 11 days ago. The mount of 3lb claimer, Adam Farragher, she is not so well drawn on this occasion, 9 compared with stall three last time but at around 10/3, she has solid each-way claims. The well-supported Marchetti could be a threat.

The stable will be hoping to double up when Golden Mayflower looks to go on one better than when running a screamer to be runner-up at Lingfield last month, having been off the course for 85 days. She is a worthy 15/8 favourite with Frederick Larson claiming three pounds which will more than negate the 2lbs she has been raised. Rooful and Lightship are obvious dangers but the Mayflower has a great chance of sailing home in first place.

DANCINGINTHEWOODS is one of eight runners today at Southwell over 7f (6.45pm) and the four-times previous winner has a lot going for him.

He was second last time out over course and distance, just being collared by the very late finishing winner, Anif. Up just a pound for that effort, “Woody” is still well handicapped (4lbs below a winning mark) and he has the advantage of 3lb claimer, Frederick Larson, who has been first and second on him from just two rides.

The horse only ever does enough when in front but providing there’s enough pace in the race, hopefully, Freddie can hang on to him and produce him late.

“Woody” had two of these behind him at Southwell last time (Barneys Bay and Eagle Creek) and should confirm placings on just slightly worse terms. Chief dangers include Eligible, Tylos and the well-backed Sun Power. However, at around 7/2 the Solario Racing runner has a great each-way chance.

Good luck to owners, Solario Racing (Ashridge)!
