ROBERT WINSTON was on double duty today with rides at Southwell and Chelmsford and after a 130-mile drive from the Midlands to Essex, his search for winners was rewarded with success on Lucymai for Dean Ivory.
The former champion apprentice jockey failed to score at Southwell with a third on 2/1 favourite, Deep Resolve, one of two rides at the track but his hot-footing to Chelmsford City paid dividends with a victory on the Roger Beadle-owned 4yo daughter of Multiplex.
The 6/1 shot broke well in the 7f contest and was always prominent but still had it all to do two furlongs from home. Robert rode the filly as if he always thought she’d produce more and it took a while but she came with an authoritative run inside the distance and won going away by a length.
This was Dean’s 10th win of the year and for Robert Winston, his 23rd. There are sure to be many more winners to come from these connections during the coming months.
